Contests Create Publicity
Liven up your Fair and create even more excitement among students and teachers with Book Fair contests.

Guessing Games Are Fun for All Ages

• A simple guessing game gets kids more involved. Try the Dragon's Breath guessing game (PDF 262KB).
• Have a "Guess Who Got Caught Reading" contest. Display pictures of staff members with their faces partially covered by a book. Award prizes to the students that correctly identify the staff member in each photograph.

Promote the Book Fair with Decorating Contests

• Have classes design posters or decorate their classroom doors or bulletin boards.
• Host a costume contest. Invite children to dress up as their favorite storybook character.
• Hold a contest among grades and classes to see who can read the most books before the Fair. Victors win a special Author Video preview party, complete with popcorn and punch!

Challenge Classrooms to Help Meet Book Fair Goals

• Award prizes to the class or grade that buys the most books or received the most Classroom Wish List donations.
• Recognize the class with the most family members in attendance at the Family Event or most volunteers participating in the Fair.
• Award Book Fair credit to the teachers who creates the best or most original box, basket, or other container to hold their Classroom Wish List books.
