A Book-Breathing Dragon
You can make a wonderful dragon table from items found around the house and in the garage.
Here's what you need:
- Large cardboard box or wooden crate
- Green and yellow paint
- Chicken wire
- Papier-mâché
- Construction paper — yellow, green, black
- Felt — red & black
- Purple poster board
- Pipe cleaners
Here's what you do:
- Paint the box or crate green
- Mold chicken wire into the shape of a dragon's head, neck, and tail
- Place chicken wire structure on the box
- Make papier-mâché, by mixing glue and water in a pan
- Dredge long strips of newspaper in mixture and mold around chicken wire
- Make two layers, allowing each layer to dry completely
- Spray paint green
- Glue on paper and felt eyes, teeth, horns, and tongue
- Glue on yellow paper rolls to create the appearance of a belly
- Paint yellow scales on neck and stomach
- Make chicken wire tail and wrap with purple construction paper
- Glue green construction paper scales to body
- Hot glue purple poster board wings on to sides
