Book Fair Entrance
Create excitement by promoting your Scholastic Book Fair site.

Cost: $5 to $50. Costs varies with availability of on-hand resources. Primary expense is hat boxes.
Time: 4 to 6 hours, with a partner

Here's how to create it:

  • Create craft-paper side windows on either side of door.
  • Cut cardboard boxes to make awnings then cover with vinyl tablecloths to give a canvas style look.
  • Use book pattern (PDF) to decorate awning and add scalloped edge from bright colored paper.
  • Create door letters and decorations using patterns and construction paper.
  • Flower boxes are made of folded and cut cardboard boxes covered with construction paper.
  • Add flowers made of bright colored paper or you could use artificial flowers.
  • For window displays create hats that represent book categories. Our example shows a pirate hat for "Adventure," a crown for "Fantasy", a giant hair ribbon for "Junie B. Jones series", a baseball cap and styrofoam ball for "Sports", and a wizard"s hat exemplifies the Harry Potter books.
  • Hat boxes are painted with a high gloss paint, you could also use contact paper.
