Hats Off to Reading! Publicity
Get the school involved in decorating and publicizing the Book Fair using some or all of these creative ideas.
Poster Prowess
Have students create themed posters advertising the Book Fair and Family Event. Hang as many posters as possible at school and around town.
Posters should include specific information:
- "Hats Off to Reading! Book Fair"
- Everyone welcome
- Date and times
- Family Event date and time
Make Your Doors Talk!
Encourage teachers to decorate their classroom doors with the Hats Off to Reading Hooray for Books! theme. Between students' imaginations and on-line clip art, you can expect superlative results! Take a look at our Hat Shop Door to get the ideas started.

Put Your Hats to Work
Turn heads and expand Book Fair awareness with a decorated fence or even a tree! in front of your school. Use student-made hats or old hats from home. Add a Hats Off to Reading Hooray for Books! banner with your Scholastic Book Fair's dates and times.
Get the Lunchroom in on the Fun
Distribute your Book Fair paper hats to the cafeteria personnel and other volunteers. You can also give them T-shirts or pins to promote your Book Fair. Include hat decorations on the tables, as permitted.
Create a "Hat Walk"
Produce a lively hallway of hats! Choose the most colorful of the students' hats and hang them from the ceiling in the hallway that leads to your Book Fair. It makes a delightful, much-talked-about avenue that is sure to charm your customers.
