Hats Off to Reading Week
A celebrity in the school community, the principal is respected and noticed, and therefore an excellent champion for Hats Off to Reading week. This can mean many things: special hat days, special times for reading, special activities. Here are some ideas we pulled out of our hat.
Public Address Announcement
The day before the Book Fair, the school principal (or other celebrity) makes an announcement:
"Next week, in honor of the Scholastic Hats Off to Reading! Book Fair, I declare a Hats-On Policy for the entire school, every day this week!
Here's the schedule:

So get your hats let this go to your head and have a super week!"
Hat of the Day on the PA
Each day, make a Public Address announcement about the following day's hat (activity), such as:
"Hello, faculty and students! Don't forget over the weekend that on Monday, our Scholastic Book Fair begins with Hat's Off to Reading Special Hat Days. Monday it's baseball caps. So grab a ball cap, put it by the door so you won't forget, and wear it on Monday."
Also use the Principal's Proclamation Scroll (PDF Form) to promote your Book Fair 'Hats Off to Reading' week.
