People Treats
You can reinforce good human behavior with treats, too! Try these
easy-to-make tasty treats.
Bone
Cake
For a big bone, use a 9" × 13" or 8" ×
8" square cake pan and four round cake pans. Choose three cake
mixes you like (all the same, or make each cake a different flavor).
Get four containers of white icing. Bake cakes and turn them out
onto a piece of tin foil. Cut about 1/6 off the tops of each of
the four round cakes. Square off the left side of two of the cakes.
Put the square cake on your cake board. Place the rounded cakes
at each end to form the bone shape. Ice the cake with vanilla frosting
to create a white bone. (We added an outline of chocolate puff cereal
to the top of ours. Mmmm!)
Hot Diggity-Dogs
Serve hot dogs with a range of special fixin's and assign dog-related
names to the selections, such as "Cheesy Chihuahua" or
"Pup-in-a-Blanket."
Kid Kibble
Offer a selection of nuts, dry cereals, popcorn, mini marshmallows,
raisins, mini-pretzels, animal crackers, sunflower seeds, chocolate
morsels, and other treats. Invite kids to create their own "Kid
Kibble" or "Family Feed."
Pupcorn Bar
Pop up a generous amount of popcorn and offer self-serve toppings
such as taco seasoning, Parmesan cheese, herbs, and cinnamon sugar.
Ike's Party Punch
In a punchbowl, blend 2 quarts ginger ale, 1-12 oz. can of frozen
lemonade concentrate (thawed), 2 cups water, and 2 cups cranberry
juice. Makes about 10 cups.
(Don't let the cat have any!)
