Host a Read, White, and Blue Whoop-De-Do at your Family Event
Family Events are fun for everyone. Run contests such as the
jelly bean guessing game,
campaign poster contest, and
"vote for your favorite book" activity. Display student artwork, including a thank-you poster naming sponsors.
Invite members of your community to be VIP guests at your Family Event. A veterans group, drill team, band, or scout troup could perfom a flag ceremony. Someone from a local bird sanctuary might even bring in an American eagle to your school.
Treat Your Guests to "A Taste of America"
The All American finger food at your Family Event might include such easy favorites as hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, and cupcakes.
For our table, volunteers frosted cupcakes with red, white, and blue icing. then, the cupcakes were arranged to create an American flag.
Other themed goodies include strawberry/blueberry shortcake, flag or star cookies, and red, white, and blue frozen treats.
