The
Treasure Hunt is On!
It's a week-long search for treasure, with every classroom participating.
The hunt begins a few days before the Family Event, where the winners
will be announced. Clues are riddles to be solved as a class, then
scouts are sent to the selected site to collect the next clue and,
ultimately, the treasure!
The Treasure
Every classroom can be a winner! It might be a bag of chocolate
gold coins, an ice-cream party, coupons for free burgers - think
of things that local merchants can contribute. Then put all the
winning names in a hat and draw the Grand Prize Winner at the Family
Event. The Grand Prize could be a $25 gift certificate for classroom
library books, again from a local merchant.
Riddle Me Some Treasure
Follow the first two lines of these
four riddles (PDF Form)
and complete with clues. Put the clues in envelopes marked with
your classroom and hide one clue at a time. The "treasure"
at the end of the hunt can also be in an envelope; write "Congratulations!
You've found it! Return to the ship to collect your treasure!"
The scout must return to collect the flag and plant it at the treasure
site. Teachers may want their whole class to witness the flag-planting
ceremony.
